Make a day trip to the old Portuguese Harbor of Essaouira, a quaint town located on the Atlantic coast with an amazing beach. And not only is the beach very attractive, it is also great for water sports.
Marrakech – Essaouira
We’ll depart early in the morning from Marrakech (our destination is around 175km away). Starting at 8:00am we’ll head towards the Atlantic coast and the town of Essaouira.
Essaouria has a long history dating back to prehistoric times. Originally an ancient Portugese fortress, this delightful small town was designed in the Vauben style by a French architect. It was also one of the first Moroccan trading harbours during the late 18th Century. It is very unique in Morocco.
The town is sheltered from the worst of the elements by the island of Mogador. It is a mostly tranquil harbour, protected from strong marine winds, which makes it a perfect haven for water sports and for surfing enthusiasts.
Additionally, there are also quad biking excursions, cookery courses, photographic excursions and Berber massages available for the active visitor.
