Imlil to Setti Fadma: A 3-Day Atlas Adventure

Your trek begins in Imlil with a steady ascent eastward toward the Tamatert Pass. The trail winds through cultivated terraces and orchards of walnut, cherry, and apple trees before reaching the village of Tamatert. Beyond the village, the path climbs through fragrant pine and juniper woodland, gradually opening up to expansive views over the Imlil and Imnane valleys.

After crossing the pass, you continue along elevated mule tracks toward remote mountain hamlets scattered across a high plateau. A picnic lunch is enjoyed outdoors with panoramic scenery. In the afternoon, the trail leads deeper into the valley toward Tachdirth, one of the highest and most picturesque Berber villages in the region. Dinner and overnight are spent in a welcoming mountain gîte.

Today is the most challenging and rewarding stage of the trek. The route climbs steadily toward a high mountain pass, offering dramatic views of surrounding peaks including Aksoual and Bouignouane. From the top, vast green valleys stretch below, creating a striking contrast with the rugged alpine terrain.

The descent follows a rocky mountain trail toward the peaceful village of Iaabbassen, where a picnic break is taken near a natural spring. In the afternoon, the path continues down the valley toward Timichi, an ancient terraced village surrounded by walnut trees and cultivated fields. Here you’ll spend the night in a traditional Berber family home, enjoying authentic cuisine and warm hospitality.

The final day follows a scenic downhill route through fertile farmland, cornfields, and groves of mature walnut trees. Passing through small villages such as Tadrart and Anfli, the landscape gradually changes as you approach the lush Ourika Valley.

The trek concludes near Setti Fadma, famous for its riverside setting and waterfalls. After a final picnic in the valley, a short walk brings you to your vehicle for the transfer back to Marrakech, marking the end of an unforgettable mountain journey.
